Fun end of summer activities in the greater Seattle area

 

 

There is still plenty of time to enjoy some summer fun in Seattle! August is here and in full swing with fairs, festivals and concerts galore. Here is a quick list of some fun happenings in our area. Enjoy!

 

 

Railroad Festival 8/15-8/17/14

Snoqualmie Railroad Days draws 10,000 people for train rides, a pancake breakfast, fun run, parade, kids’ entertainment, music, arts & crafts, car show, wine and beer garden, and food. Free entrance.

 

Woodinville Festival 8/16/14

Celebrate Woodinville Festival has pancakes at the fire station, a parade on 175th Street, a farmer’s market, arts & crafts fair, beer garden, food trucks, and children’s activities at Wilmot Gateway Park. Free.

 

Viking Days 8/16-8/17/14

Viking Days features a daily pancake breakfast, a 5K and salmon dinner Saturday, Nordic craft and food vendors, a Viking village reenactment, beer garden, and music at Nordic History Museum in Ballard. Free.

 

Evergreen State Fair- 8/21-9/1/14

Meet farm animals, watch pigs race, eat fair food, and catch a show at the Evergreen State Fair in Monroe, WA.

 

Duwamish River Festival 8/23/14

The Duwamish River Festival celebrates the river’s amazing comeback with music, lunch, kids’ activities, exhibits, art, kayak and boat rides at Duwamish Waterway Park. Free.

 

Free Park Day 8/25/14

Entry is free at Mount Rainier and Olympic National Parks on Free Entrance Days in the National Parks. Expect more people and less parking than usual.

 

Blackberry Festival- 8/30-9/1/14

Walk on the ferry to the Bremerton Blackberry Festival , and shop the waterfront for art, jewelry, fair food, and blackberry pie, or do the Berry Fun Run.

 

Bumbershoot- 8/30-9/1/14

Celebrate the end of summer at Bumbershoot , a spectacular music and arts festival that draws crowds to Seattle Center on Labor Day weekend.
